OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens are optimistic that the starting quarterback will play at the New York Jets after he missed Wednesday's practice with a right shoulder injury.
"To me, he will be out there," coach John Pink Allen Robinson Jersey Harbaugh said after practice. "It's my belief he'll be out there."
A league source told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder that Flacco has irritation in the joint of his throwing shoulder, which he has experienced before. The source said the Ravens expect Flacco to play, but a final determination might not be made until as late as Saturday.
Lewis, however, said the plan would have worked.
"He and I are very close," Lewis said. "All he wants is to win football games. We both have the same goal, and that's what's important. It would not have been an issue."
Lewis' affection for Jackson is readily apparent.
"You love him like a brother that I never had," Lewis said. "I spent a lot of time with him. ... [When] we coached together, every time, [he] has always done such a great job. I think he brings out the best and challenges everybody to be the best."
We'll see if that down-the-field success continues against the Chargers and beyond.
But Newton should lose the attitude.
Delhomme brought up a good point. Newton's attitude and decision to abruptly walk out of his news conference means that will be the focus of his next news conference. That won't take place until next Wednesday because the team is on a bye.
Newton didn't http://www.authenticfootballs.com/allen-robinson-jersey-c-1_437_441.html apologize.
Roethlisberger originally was told to expect to miss two to three weeks, sources said, but the post-surgery prognosis broadened that window. However, as a team source said, Roethlisberger has defied odds before when dealing with injuries.
Yes, the Steelers will create the best game plan for Landry Jones and work to minimize the damage normally inflicted by Brady and the Patriots offense.
But Mike Tomlin's comments during his Tuesday news conference illustrate exactly where the Steelers offense is right now -- far away from where the fireworks happen.
"We've got to work to keep the score down. That aids us in terms of the game unfolding."
"A shootout is not the type of game we're looking for at the present circumstance."
